Press Release

CASPR Announces Unlimited Users for librarycom.com

New version of librarycom.com provides enhanced features and fewer restrictions.

Silicon Valley, January 1, 2001 - librarycom.com, the Web hosting service for libraries, has been upgraded to version 3 and has changed its pricing structure to allow an unlimited number of users per library. Unlike version 2, which was sold on a concurrent user basis, with the first user being free, librarycom.com version 3 is priced on a storage and support basis only. Libraries can continue to automate for free with storage use up to 10 megabytes of data. Those needing additional storage, or support, can choose from a wide range of service options.

"Frankly we confused many librarians with the 'per-seat' charge mechanism," says Norman Kline, President and CEO of CASPR, Inc. "They loved the idea of a web based system, but couldn't figure out how many seats they needed. Often corporate or school libraries would find themselves needing more seats for a limited time, then drop down to a lower number for normal use. With the new pricing structure, they never have to worry about how many users might access their library," continued Kline.

Librarycom.com provides libraries of all sizes with an immediate and reliable online automation service at a lower cost then ever before. With librarycom.com, customers are up and running on the very same day they sign on, with all library data backed up and secure. Provided as a service, there's no hardware, software or networks to buy or maintain. Librarycom.com is accessible from any location on the Internet using standard Web browsers.

Availability: Version 3 is available now to anyone with a standard Web browser at www.librarycom.com.

Pricing: www.librarycom.com is a free Internet service for up to 10 megabytes of online storage, and is geared for small libraries; libraries just starting to automate; or larger libraries who want to test the service first before leaping. The Base service plan provides an additional 5 megabytes of storage and telephone support for $300 per year, and is ideal for smaller collections. The Standard service plan offers 30 megabytes of storage and telephone support for $600 per year and is well suited for small to medium size school and special libraries. The Premium service plan provides 45 megabytes of storage and telephone support and is a solid service for medium size collections. The Superior service plan provides 60 megabytes of storage and is excellent for larger libraries or for libraries with extensive cataloging requirements. Even larger collection can be supported on a per custom quote basis.
