I can't sign-in!
We only converted registered accounts from version 2 that had
active libraries. If you did not have an active library with
over ten records, you will need to re-register. There is no
charge for registering an account on LibraryCom.
What happened to my test library?
If you had a test library of under ten records, you will need
to reregister and create your library again. All libraries of
ten records or more have been converted to version 3. If you
believe your library should have been converted, please contact
the LibraryCom Webmaster. All version 2 libraries have been
backed up and stored.
Conversion Issue
If you cataloged multiple items with the same title, all copy
records may have been attached to the first instance of the
title. No data has been lost, but these copy records will need
to be moved to their appropriate records. LibraryCom staff is
correcting specific libraries now. If this issue has affected
your library, please contact the LibraryCom Webmaster.
Setting up security
Version 3 now has full OPAC and Management functions which
means you will need to pay more attention to security and setting
up access accounts. Please go to the Properties-Security page
and first change the password of the 'Username' account to something
you will remember and add any additional user accounts. Also,
check whether you will allow 'guest' access to your library
for read only purposes.
Accessing your library with LibraryCom OPAC.
You can now allow users to access your library through the
LibraryCom OPAC program. To access the library enter "www.librarycom.com/opac".
A login page will appear. Have the user enter the name of the
library and a username and password that has at least read access
to the catalog. Or, if you have checked guest access, you can
have anyone search the library by clicking the guest option.
Accessing your library with LibraryCom Manage.
You can now allow library managers to access you library for
cataloging and circulation purposes through the LibraryCom Manage
program. To access you library in manage mode enter 'www.librarycom.com/manage'.
The Manage login page will appear allowing a user to enter the
library name followed by a username and password. Upon access
to the library, the user will have all rights which you have
assigned that username in the security settings page.
New Features
LibraryCom Version 3 behaves in a consistent manner as version
2 and most features are either the same or have minor modifications.
However, in the coming months many new features will be gradually
added to version 3. It is important for the LibraryCom member
to continue to access the LibraryCom home page to keep up to
date on these new features.
MARC is really there.
Yes, MARC is fully available in Version 3 at two locations.
First, MARC tab can be used to search and move records to the
briefcase. Once records are in the briefcase, they can be either
downloaded to a local system, or they can be moved to an online
LibraryCom library.
In addition, MARC can also be searched from within the Holdings
tab of LibraryCom. This allows you to quickly search and save
records into your own collection. Once a record is found, simply
click the Save Record button to save into your collection. Then
add as many copies as you need to the record. Update the record
if you wish, it's now yours!
New pricing structure begins January 1st.
Effective January 1st, 2001, CASPR will announced an exciting
change to the pricing structure of LibraryCom which will allow
an unlimited number of users to search LibraryCom collections
without additional charges or fees.
